After the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the touring industry for a year, The Interrupters returned to the road to play some of the biggest shows of their career.

The “She’s Kerosene” rockers played their first post-shutdown shows during the summer of 2021 in sold-out stadiums while opening for the Green Day/Fall Out Boy/Weezer Hella Mega tour.

“It was a dream,” frontwoman Aimee Interrupter tells ABC Audio of her Hella Mega experience. “It was so surreal and so amazing. It was one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced.”

“It was one of those tours where multiple times a day you’re just, like, ‘I can’t believe I’m here,’” guitarist Kevin Bivona adds.

The Interrupters — which also includes Kevin’s twin brothers Justin and Jesse Bivona on bass and drums, respectively — then followed the Hella Mega tour with a co-headlining run with Flogging Molly this summer.

“We love them, they’re sweethearts,” Aimee says of the Celtic punks, adding that they felt like “immediate family.” “They’re just so kind and loving and everything … that I hoped they would be, absolutely amazing.”

The Interrupters will launch a second outing with Flogging Molly Friday in Denver, which will allow them to play more songs off their new album, In the Wild, which hadn’t yet been released during the first leg of their tour.

“It’s just really exciting to be back out on the road,” Kevin says.

“We’ve missed it, we’ve really missed it,” Aimee adds. “And connecting with everybody and everyone singing along.”
