“Run-D.M.C. is over:” DMC Announces Final Run-D.M.C. Show


In an interview with Rock the Bells, Darryl “DMC” Dawkins of Run-DMC announced that the group is holding a final show in April.

The era of legendary hip-hop group Run-DMC is coming to an end. As the 50th anniversary of hip-hop approaches, group member Darryl “DMC” McDaniels spoke to Rock the Bells about the conclusion of Run-DMC, announcing the group’s final show in the spring.

“Run-D.M.C. is over. The only way Run-D.M.C. gets back together is if The Beatles get back together. Can that happen?” said McDaniels, 58.

McDaniels teased the the group’s final performance would also be a tribute to their hometown of New York City. The storied legacy of Run-DMC includes their landmark albums King of RockRaising Hell and a cameo appearance in 1985 film Krush Groove.

“The final show that we are ever going to do is going to be at Madison Square Garden in April. It’s going to be the last episode of the documentary we’re doing. Run-D.M.C.’s last show ever. ‘Cause it’s time for Run to go be Paul McCartney and me to be John Lennon. We done did what we could do,” McDaniels said.
