MSU honors Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage Month

May is Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month.

Missouri State University will host events May 1-9 to offer glimpses into the contributions, influence and enriching traditions of APIDA people.

“The month of May was chosen to commemorate the migration of Japanese people to the United States,” said Dr. Nina Barudzic, director of multicultural programs at Missouri State.

“By celebrating APIDA heritage, we’re focusing on the accomplishments of Asian individuals who had a unique journey to the U.S., their life experience, traditions and cultures.”
