Missouri State University faculty and staff pursued robust research, education and service projects in fiscal year 2023 resulting in a banner funding year.
The university received external grants and contracts worth $45.1 million. This is a record-setting 25% jump from the previous record of almost $36 million in FY2021.
Faculty and staff submitted 328 proposals to address the needs of students, businesses, communities and schools in southwest Missouri and beyond.
“It’s a credit to our faculty, staff and their respective research administration specialists that we continue to be able to increase our external funding,” said Marina Loveland, Missouri State’s interim director of research administration.
“They continue to develop innovative programs and research projects that allow the university to remain relevant in an increasingly competitive funding environment.”
Included in the annual report is $58 million in federal appropriations, the bulk of which go toward the renovation and expansion of Blunt Hall. This brings the FY23 external funding total to nearly $105 million.
