    Missouri State to award 3,011 degrees at spring 2021 commencement

    Missouri State University will award 3,011 degrees to students at its spring 2021 commencement. Ceremonies will take place over two days.

    • May 13:  2 p.m. and 6 p.m. in JQH Arena.
    • May 14:  9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. in JQH Arena.

    COVID-19 procedures

    All ceremonies will be limited to 750 graduates. Each graduate can invite up to four guests. These limits are based on JQH Arena capacity with current COVID-19 restrictions in place.

    No RSVPs or tickets are required.

    All ceremonies will be livestreamed. Visit the spring 2021 commencement website for the link, which will be made available for both days.

    May 13 ceremonies

    First ceremony

    Undergraduate students graduating from the College of Business will participate in the 2 p.m. ceremony.

    Second ceremony

    Undergraduate students graduating from the McQueary College of Health and Human Services and interdisciplinary academic programs will participate in the 6 p.m. ceremony.

    May 14 ceremonies

    First ceremony

    Graduate students graduating from the McQueary College of Health and Human Services and all students from the Reynolds College of Arts and Letters will participate in the 9 a.m. ceremony.

    Second ceremony

    All students graduating from the College of Humanities and Public Affairs and the College of Natural and Applied Sciences, and graduate students from the interdisciplinary academic programs will participate in the 1 p.m. ceremony.

    Third ceremony

    All students graduating from the College of Education and the William H. Darr College of Agriculture, and graduate students from the College of Business will participate in the 5 p.m. ceremony.

    About the #BearGrads

    Missouri State will confer 2,170 bachelor’s degrees, 708 master’s degrees, 117 doctorate degrees and 16 specialist degrees.

    The university will recognize 107 students for their work with a more rigorous curriculum in its Honors College.

    Additionally, Missouri State will recognize students graduating with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher:

    • 213 students will graduate summa cum laude (with GPAs of 3.9-4.0 on a 4.0 scale).
    • 242 students will graduate magna cum laude (with GPAs of 3.75-3.89).
    • 433 students will graduate cum laude (with GPAs of 3.5-3.74).

    Security procedures for guests

    All guests will be wanded upon entrance, and all bags will be inspected. Guests should not bring gifts, balloons or any items that could be considered a weapon.
