Burt Young, the former real-life boxer who went on to play Rocky Balboa’s brother-in-law Paulie in the “Rocky” franchise, passed away, his sister told the New York Times. He was 83. Burt, a former Marine, began his acting career in the late ’60s, and he went on to appear in “M*A*S*H,” “Little House on the Prairie,” “Chinatown,” and “Serpico.” But, it was his role in “Rocky” that shot Burt to stardom and earned him a best supporting actor Academy Award nomination. Many of Burt’s roles portrayed him as a tough guy, which seemed to be the opposite of how he lived his real life.
Following his death, many top name Hollywood stars publicly paid tribute to the late actor, as he was called a “legend” and “sweetheart.”
