Coi Leray Links With Grandmaster Flash After Sampling ‘The Message’

Coi Leray recently linked up with Hip Hop legend Grandmaster Flash after sampling his hit record “The Message” on an upcoming song.

The two were having dinner in New York City on Monday night (November 14), and the Hip Hop pioneer shared some footage from the meet-up. In the photos, fans can see Coi and Flash in the middle of a conversation and laughing up a storm.

Grandmaster Flash also gifted Coi a custom-made hoodie with the slogan “Girls Are Players Too” in traditional bubble graffiti font that the Trendsetter rapper shared in her Instagram Story.

“It was nice meetin Coi,” Grandmaster Flash wrote in the caption of his post. “We chopped it up about Life, Music, the Business and she comes back with great answers — the Lady knows what she wants. Had a blast with her, until next time kid Watch out for her @coileray.”

The dinner between the two comes days after the “TWINNEM” rapper shared a video on Instagram previewing an unreleased record that features a heavy sample of Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five’s classic 1982 hit “The Message.”

Coi takes inspiration from the original cadence of the iconic early Hip Hop record and can be heard championing women on the unreleased joint, which she’s already crowned the “new anthem.” Over the funky, bouncy beat in the video clip, she raps: “Cuz girls is playa’s too.”

What you know about living on top/ Penthouse suites looking down on the opps/ Took him for a test drive/ Left him on the lot/ Time is money/ So I spent it on a watch,” Coi Leray continues in the video.

She continued her excitement over the record in the caption of her post writing: “GIRLS IS PLAYAS TOOO !!! KEEEP IT PLAYER BABYYYYY [Heart emojis] GOOD VIBES AND GOOD ENERGY!!!!”

New York Hip Hop tastemakers such as DJ Clue and former G-Unit member DJ Whoo Kid showed their support for the record in the comments of Coi Leray’s original IG post. “Send that thru,” Clue wrote in a comment while Whoo Kidd added several fire emojis.
